Finding the best assisted living in San Antonio online

Choosing between the many assisted living San Antonio facilities can be a difficult decision to make.  While, the location of the assisted living facility and the outward appearances are important, there are so many other things to consider.  Safety for your senior aged loved one should be the main concern.  Both the effectiveness of the staff and many aspects of the facility itself will contribute to the overall safety of your senior.  Our elders cared for us when we were young and protected us whilst keeping us safe.  For this reason, safety should be a top priority in choosing senior care.  There are many hazards which need to be prevented in an assisted living facility.  The lighting in an assisted living facility should be adequate, so that seniors are able to make it around the inside and outside of the assisted living facility without accident or incident.  Maintenance is an aspect or department in an assisted living facility which many family members neglect to consider in the overall evaluation of a San Antonio assisted living facility.  If something breaks and could cause a hazard or a senior makes a complaint about something hazardous in their assisted living apartment, the time it will take for repair and the maintenance issue to be addressed should be considered.  Trash removal and cleaning services should be questioned.

The assisted living facility would be odor-free and clean in appearance should the facility have properly trained and adequate staffing in the cleaning department.  Each hallway and bi-way that a senior will travel, both inside and outside, should remain free of debris and slip hazards.  Assisted living facilities should have very attentive and around the clock maintenance and the cleaning staff should be well-trained and observant to the needs of the assisted living facility and those senior-aged residents.  Slippery surfaces should not exist in an assisted living facility.  Although there are elderly residents in San Antonio assisted living facilities who do not require special mobility care, there are many residents who have a difficult time maneuvering around the facility, so the walkways and hallways and spaces within the apartment should remain non-slippery and without any trip hazards.  Look for loose carpets and other signs to warn caution of slippery surfaces.  This would mean that there are slippery surfaces within the assisted living facility which have not been permanently addressed to remove any potential for a fall.

With so many options in San Antonio for senior living, the safety of your senior aged loved one should be the number one concern when choosing an assisted living facility.  Most San Antonio assisted living facilities offer air conditioning.  To be sure that the assisted living facility has adequate control over the temperature in the buildings and where the residents will be living and sleeping, ask for a tour and then re-visit the facility and ask to see different parts each time.  There is no shame in visiting an assisted living facility more than once or having many conversations with staff in different departments to get a true feel for the level of safety in the assisted living San Antonio facility.
