Hospice care began as a volunteer driven organization but evolved and is now provided by registered nurses who make visits to your home based on your individual needs and requests. Through hospice care, the patient has access to necessary medical equipment, medications, and 24/7 assistance.

Social workers play a role in elder care when it comes to helping in times of crisis. They are able to act as mediators if need be. The ultimate goal of a social worker in an elderly in home care scenario is to protect the individual and help make decisions that are in their best interest. It is through social workers that the elderly are able to maintain a life of independence with the ease of knowing they are being looked after.

Physical Therapists

Physical Therapists are able to keep the mobility of an elder at a maximum, resulting in ease of joint movement and overall relaxation. Through physical therapy, a senior is able to live in the comfort of their own home while receiving necessary attention to mobility issues. Because lose of joint movement and increase in overall discomfort plagues many to all individuals, physical therapists can provide the basic daily exercise necessary to maintain limber movement. This results in a more comfortable and uncomplicated lifestyle.

Home Care Volunteers

Home care volunteers can range from providing supportive care to elders, such as assistance with transportation, meal preparation, or simple companionship, to more complex activities, such as aid in daily grooming. Grooming can range from helping with getting the elder dressed and undressed, assisting with daily bathing, and other, more personal matters. Individuals who volunteer for providing elders with home care always have the option in furthering their passion and becoming licensed in this field, which would allow them to provide assistance with medicine related duties.

Because there are so many options when it comes to elder home nursing care, there are more and more individuals who make the choice of staying in their home when they reach the point of needing assistance with daily activities. But it is these options that make staying in their home a possibility. It is these individuals, who devote their time to aiding in the daily lives of seniors, who give almost limitless possibilities to seniors.
