Rain or Shine for San Jose Seniors

Assisted Living in San JoseSan Jose seniors are getting moving no matter the weather.  In assisted living facilities, there are times when the seniors are not able to partake in outdoor activities, due to the extreme heat.  Heat and weather can be particularly dangerous for a senior.  It is important that seniors are not exerting too much energy or overheating on these extremely hot days.  For this reason, assisted living is changing with the times and incorporating some really cool ways to keep seniors physically active even indoors!  There are many game systems which link up to televisions in senior’s rooms and in the community areas within the assisted living facility where seniors are playing baseball, bowling, yoga, dancing and other activities all from inside the assisted living facility and in any weather conditions.  Of course, there are still the previously popular activities like bingo and painting, but with the advances in technology there are so many other activities that are keeping seniors moving and their minds sharp.  To use a game system to play a game like bowling, you need to have coordination and use your brain to think about what comes next in the game not to mention the game stick which is controlling the outcome of wear you are rolling the bowling ball.

Assisted Living San Jose

Find senior assisted living in san joseSan Jose assisted living communities have seniors living well into their golden ages.  The colorful lobby of the newly renovated complex was just what I had been looking for while shopping through my choices to help my mom to live a safer, happier senior life.  It felt more like an up-scale apartment complex than that which anyone would believe was an assisted living facility.  The café offered nice, light lunch-time meals and the restaurant was serving chef-inspired dishes.  All of the apartment-style rooms were equipped with a kitchenette and apartment-sized refrigerator.  This place was in fact nice than the house I had grown up in and that my mother currently was having a hard time living in alone.  I guess it was a false impression that I had of an assisted living facility feeling more like a hospital or facility than a home.  I was pleasantly surprised how the residents knew all of the staff on a first name basis and the staff seemed to be just as engaged with the residents.  It didn’t seem to be at all an assisted living care worked and client relationship, but more so seemed like friendships built on trust and mutual respect.  The outside of the assisted living community was landscaped and looked like a pretty flower garden with bright flowers and greenery.  It was an enjoyable place to sit and read or chat with a neighboring assisted living resident.  My mom has been so lonely in her big home all alone; this will be the perfect place for her to maintain her independence while meeting new people in a similar situation and life stage.  I think that I am probably not alone in the impression that assisted living communities are more like a facility.  Until you have visited one, you aren’t really able to form an opinion about what is out there.

Home Care Concerns For Those in San Jose

find quality home care in San JoseDon’t wait until you are stuck in bed in your San Jose home alone.  If you are a disabled or suffering from an illness or disease which is progressing, there may come a time when you are simply not able to do it all alone.  For this reason, being open minded about home care can really save your life, your dignity, your lifestyle and your ability to live as you please.  The misconception about home care to many seniors is that admitting to yourself and your loved ones that you need help at home you are saying you aren’t able to do it on your own any longer or that a nursing home may be your next move.  This is simply not true.  Living at home and remaining in your home is very dependent on your ability to be safe at home.  You may actually be able to prolong or live the rest of your life in your San Jose home with home care.

San Jose Senior Living

As we age we start to feel life in our bones.  It is no mystery that the cold and dampness of many states can increase the amount of aches and pains we feel as we get older.  One of the many great things about San Jose senior living, is that the weather is without the humidity and dampness.  Some seniors begin to feel the aches and pains earlier in life.  Past injuries, torn muscles and arthritis in the joints and bones will often remind us of all of the life we have lived.  Being a senior and having the option to move can mean less pain and be better for your health or at least promote a more active lifestyle.  Thinking back to all of the memories that contributed to our lives and the aches and pains we may feel are attributed to accomplishments and milestones we have reached.  Stress from years of working on the mind and body or a life of a physically demanding job, which may leave us achy in our later years, can be a daily reminder of all that we have done.  Places that seniors may feel the aches and pains of just growing older:
